Iām a bit embarrassed to admit it but instant ramen (as in Top Ramen) is probably the food most likely have awakened my food curiosity. Why? Because it was a wholly otherworldly food, and very different from our usual family fare ā also because its full of sodium and tastes good. I was a young adult when I had my first bowl of ramen made with fresh noodles and I was doubly hooked.
In a few days, I am traveling to Japan with my husband to celebrate his milestone birthday and fulfill his lifelong dream to visit Japan. Our itinerary is full of activities we love ā especially exploring the foods of Japan like miso, sake, tofu, gyoza, sushi, and of course ramen.
To prepare, I made time to watch Tampopo, one of the most seminal food movies of the late 20th Century, and I got way more than I expected.
